I sat at the computer staring at the blank page before me. "What to create…", my story needed a steed; but I hated using the same creatures everyone else did. I was tired of dragons, horses of all mythical and real types, and all the other cliché beings dropped into stories because people were either too lazy to create their own or too strict to allow a little fantasy into their writings.

So, there I sat staring at a character sheet refusing to fill itself in. I wanted a canine, something natural with endurance and a predator but easily lovable. The big cats were too often used as villains and could be far too wild to be a beast of burden and a companion for one so easily abused; I also was craving the loyalty of a pack animal. So a canine it was, but how to really create it into my own. I thought of patterns and textures, pelt lengths, and estimated sizing. After all, the creature would have to be huge and rare.

On and on the questions poured from my head, but I was craving someone else's questions to drive my creativity. Alas, no one was there to pick at my mind. The best ideas are answers to questions that just flow from one's head.
Muhahaha!

I've always wanted a wolf, about the size of a small pony, call it oh, tousand pounds or so, black fur with a red tinge in the sunlight.... or an over-sized Scotland terror
